Texture Paste is a great way to add some interest to handmade cards. Texture paste and ink blending are even more amazing! Today’s tutorial includes some simple ink blending and texture paste application over a stencil, then a quick die cut sentiment to finish the project off.
To see the full video tutorial, head on over to my YouTube channel via the link below.
This project starts with ink blending through a stencil. I used three colors today, all Distress Oxides (see links at bottom of post). I’m using my Wendi Vecchi Make Art Stay-tion (which a absolutely love!), but did not need to use the included magnets as I sprayed the back of my stencil with Pixie Spray. This spray is a light tack glue that holds stencils to a surface, but allows for easy removal when you are done.
After ink blending, I lightly wiped down the stencil to remove excess ink, then applied texture paste using a craft spatula. A large scraper was perfect to evenly spread the paste across the entire panel.
After gently removing stencil, a quick wash of the stencil, tools, and Make Art Stay-tion is needed. I let the panel dry for an hour or so before trimming down for my card.
To complete this card, I die cut my sentiment and sentiment background from coordinating colors of cardstock, then used Distress Collage Medium to adhere the sentiment pieces together.
Finally, double sided adhesive to adhere the trimmed card panel to a card base, and some double sided adhesive shapes to pop up the sentiment. With that, this texture paste and ink blending card was complete!
Minus drying time, this was a very quick card to put together. Easy too. Working with any type of medium through a stencil can sometimes seem a bit daunting, but if you’ve never tried it I urge you to. It’s not as difficult as you might be thinking!
