Today’s Happy Thanksgiving card is in celebration of giving thanks. Being born and raised in the USA, I’ve always celebrated the Thanksgiving holiday. This card blends ink smooshing, die cutting and embossing to create a fabulous card that is a perfect embodiment of autumn colors and a Happy Thanksgiving message.

Ink Smooshing
This Happy Thanksgiving card began with ink smooshing on watercolor panels. I utilized three Distress Ink colors at a time, the first panel using Forest Moss, Fossilized Amber and Ripe Persimmon. To begin, I pressed ink onto a craft mat, added a few spritz of water, then pressed my first panel into the ink multiple times.
To obtain depth and additional interest in your card panel, dry your panel between layers.
The second panel used the following Distress inks: Barn Door, Peeled Paint and Walnut Stain.
To ensure the two panels worked cohesively together, I dipped my first panel into this ink as well.
Die Cutting & Heat Embossing
After drying thoroughly, I die cut each panel using an oblong hexagon die from The Stamp Market. I die cut three oblong hexagons per card panel.
After measuring to find the center on a panel of Kraft card stock, I used reposition adhesive to place the first oblong in the center of the card. Leaving a consistent border, I used liquid glue to adhere the remaining oblongs to surround. Note – I cut the final oblong in half to both sides could be utilized.
White the liquid glue dried, I removed my center oblong and stamped my greeting using VersaMark ink, then heat embossed using Ranger Embossing Powder in Gold. Note – ensure your card panel is completely dry before trying to heat emboss.
Finishing Touches
Adhesive foam adhered the center oblong to the card panel. To add a bit more interest, I added a frame cut from Harvest Gold Mirror Card.
To finish the card, all I had to do was trim the overhanging die cuts.
I love the ink smooshing results on this card (as I always do!). The gold frame ties in perfectly with the embossed sentiment, and the overall color palette is perfect for the autumn season.
