Lately, I’ve discovered my card collection is a bit low on masculine cards. Today’s project is perfect for masculine cards and can be customized for any type sentiment.
Supplies
Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock: 110lb for card base, 80lb for die cutting
The Stamp Market Card Stock: Cactus Green, Navy, Rusty, Sea Glass
Hero Arts INTENSE Black ink pad and Unicorn Pigment Ink pad
The Stamp Market Alpha Cuts Stamp, Alpha Grid die, Patterned Polka Dots Stamp Set
Spellbinders Platinum 6 Die Cutting and Embossing Machine
Gina K Connect Glue
Scrapbook.com Double Sided Adhesive Shapes
Alphabet Stamping & Die Cutting
Using a stamp positioner, align The Stamp Market’s Alpha Cuts Stamp and transfer to lid. Stamp entire alphabet using black ink onto colored cardstock (Sea Glass) multiple times to achieve a good impression. Thoroughly clean stamp.
Repeat above using a white pigment ink and stamping onto Rusty card stock.
Allow both card panels to dry thoroughly before die cutting using Alpha Grid die.
Card Panel Stamping
Using both black and white inks (dry thoroughly after using pigment ink) stamp circular images and filler images in a random pattern. Use acrylic blocks to mount stamps and keep stamp placement loose to obtain an ‘art journal’ type appearance. As a general rule, stamp images in odd quantities, and allow images to hang off edge of card panel.
Mats
Trim card panels and add mat layers.
Congrats card panels: bottom layer 3 7/8” x 5 1/8”, top layer 3 1/2” x 4 3/4”, letter mats 3/4” x 1”
Happy Birthday card panels: bottom layer 5 1/2” x 4 1/4”, top layer 5 1/8” x 3 7/8”, letter mats 9/16” x 7/8”
Finishing
Congrats Card: As ‘Congrats’ has nine letters, I opted for a grid pattern for letters.
Use a Centering Ruler to aid in alignment of center vertical letters. Then, approximate the remaining spacing visually. Use liquid glue to adhere letters, as this will give you a few seconds of wiggle room to adjust.
Happy Birthday Card: Use a mix of liquid glue and adhesive foam to pop up some letters for added interest.
