Hello, I am glad you are here! Today’s card is duo-chromatic, yet the simple color palette does not detract from its beauty. I love the easy elegance of silver paired with lavender, and today’s card is a knockout! Let’s get started!
I chose to work with Altenew’s Dahlia Blossoms stamp set. This set includes multiple layers to create three different Dahlias and a couple leaves. Each layer can be stamped in any order, utilizing all layers, or omitting as wanted. No matter how one stamps these beauties, amazing results will be achieved.
I pulled out a stamping frame I created a little while back and placed it into my Tim Holtz Stamp Platform. The frame is essentially a sheet of cardstock with the center cut out to hold my standard mat, 5 1/8” x 4”. A couple pieces of soft tack tape across the back help hold my mat in place while stamping. I can then stamp over the edge of my cardstock, and not have to worry about it moving, or getting excess ink all over my platform (enough of that happens as it is!).
I selected Altenew Crisp Dye Ink for my stamping. I love that these colors coordinate perfectly, creating layered flowers that easily resonate. I started with the solid base color, using Soft Lilac. After moving the stamp to various locations around the card, I switched to the outline stamp and Deep Iris ink.
I place a spare sheet of acetate over my project when lining up each layer. This keeps my project clean from lingering, negating the need to clean my stamp after each stamping. To make things easy, I set the stamp on the acetate in about the correct location, then adjust its position by moving the acetate around. This is much easier than trying to nudge a photopolymer stamp across cardstock.
I finished the flower layers by stamping in Versamark ink and heat embossing with Ranger Embossing Powder in silver. I then stamped a few base flower images on masking paper (I use Avery Removable ID Labels) and fussy cut them out. I could have used the dies (which are available for this set), but did not want a boarder around the images. I masked off a few flowers at a time as I stamped leaf images around the flowers using Silver Stone, Industrial Diamond and Pure Graphite inks.
I cut a piece of platinum vellum from Grafix and heat embossed my sentiment pulled from another Altenew stamp set, Hello Gorgeous. I used my Scor-Pal to help crease the vellum to wrap around the front of the card panel, then placed a few drops of glue directly behind a few letters – just enough to tack the vellum in place, preventing it from bubbling. I adhered the vellum to the card panel back with strong double sided tape.
Using Altenew’s Thank You background stamp, I used Deep Iris and stamped the front of my A2 card base, cut from Simon Says Stamp 120lb Base White cardstock. I only inked the edges of the stamp, as only a small portion of the card front would be visible around my mat panel.
I adhered the floral mat to the card base using strong double sided tape. To finish this card, I used the flower edge stamp in Soft Lilac to create a light boarder on the inside of the card. The sentiment was stamped in Lavender Fields. With that, the card was complete!
I love how the stripes behind the floral pattern give a little bit of added interest, while the silver heat embossing lends a sophisticated air. Such classical elegance in a simple color palette, which is one of my all time favorites. Thank you for joining me today. Keep Calm, and Craft On!
