Autumn Colors

Fall is upon us and autumn colors abound! Today’s slimline cards are bursting with autumn colors and utilize some new goodies from Simon Says Stamp’s Stamptember release.

Die Cutting

If you decide to keep your Geometric Builder Circles die intact (as I did), pre-trim scraps of card stock for die cutting. Each circle in the die set is 1 1/4” in diameter, so your scraps should be sized just larger.

Select four colors of cardstock, and die cut two of each color for the ‘fourths’ circle, and eight solid circles to be used as your bases.

From the ‘petal’ die, select five colors of card stock, cut one of each color, plus an additional five solid circles.

Adhere die cuts to bases, using glue of choice – liquid glue is my choice here, as it allows a few seconds of wiggle-room before setting.

Prepare slimline card bases. Trim cardstock to 8 1/2” x 7”. Along the 7” side, score a fold line at the center (3 1/2”). Fold, and reinforce fold line. You now have a slimline card, sized 8 1/2” x 3 1/2”.

Trim card mats. For Autumn card, trim panel to 2 1/2” x 8 1/2”. For Happy Birthday card, trim panel to 3″ x  8 1/2”.

Using edge dies, trim decorative edges into one (or both) edges of card panels. Make sure you recognize where the cut lines on the dies are, and orient them correctly. For Happy Birthday Card, I elected to trim short edges of panel (and die cut loops) for a cleaner look.

Die cut Happy Birthday sentiment and background from coordinating card stock. Adhere using liquid glue.

Stamping

Determine alignment of prepared ‘fourths’ die cuts atop card. Position letter stamps above circles to your liking. Use Misti to stamp each letter onto corresponding die cut as multiple impressions will be needed to obtain a good impression.

Card Assembly

For Autumn card, use Scotch Foam Tape to pop up background mat. Use adhesive shapes behind each letter. This card, is finished! While simple in design, the die cut circles create interest and the autumn colors coordinate perfectly with the sentiment.

For Happy Birthday card, adhere background panel directly to card base, then utilize adhesive shapes for sentiment and circles atop. Finish with some Nuvo Crystal Drops. This card is perfect for anyone with a birthday in the fall. The crystal drops add the perfect amount of shimmer to this card, without it becoming too ornate.
