How To

The hint to making watercolor painting easy is to heat emboss your image! A little bit of embossing aids in corralling your water and paint. I chose to heat emboss using copper, as I planned on painting all fall colors – my go to color scheme of late.

Painting one color at a time gives time for your panel to dry thoroughly before moving on to a new color. In addition. always start a new color in an area that has already dried from earlier painting.

To amp up my panel, I finished by painting around the image with White Gold. This watercolor gives a gorgeous sheen that shines along with the copper embossing.

After trimming the panel to 5 1/4” x 4” I mounted it to a card base cut from Gina K Fresh Asparagus cardstock. This cardstock matches the Olive Green watercolor perfectly!

The sentiment inside the card comes from Pink Fresh My Favorite Things to Say set. Three stamps gave the perfect sentiment for my intended recipient. Simon Says Stamp Sparrow Ink pairs perfectly with the color scheme of the card.

I’m so happy with how this card turned out. The embossing definitely aids my watercolor skills, which are beginner at best. I generally struggle with trying to control watercolors too much, but the small areas of this background stamp are perfect at keeping my tendencies at bay.
