Die Cut Layers and Embossing

Die Cut Layers and Embossing

Die cut layers and embossing is the name of the game today. An accentuated edge, with embossed die cuts keeps this card interesting and full of depth.

For the video tutorial for this card full of die cut layers and embossing, click below. In addition, I show you how to create a stamping template to make stamping and die cutting multiple small images easy.

The Card

This card begins with die cutting the decorative edge into the card base, and two additional card panels. Determine the desired layering, then die cut the edge using Birth Press Design’s Kessa Arch layer set dies. A for the top layer, B for the middle, and C for the bottom layer.

I designated my card base as the middle layer, Gina K Blue Denim cardstock for top layer, and Craft Perfect Mirror Card in Frosted Silver as my bottom layer.

Then, adhere layers together using a liquid glue (Distress Collage Medium for me), and trim overhang using a good pair of craft shears.

Next, I stamped and heat embossed snowflakes onto an additional panel of silver Mirror Card. I also trimmed a strip to adhere at the top of my card. This strip serves two purposes. First, it grounds the top of the card as it is used as the base layer in the decorative edge at the bottom. Second, it covers the visible seam where the layered cardstocks did not quite line up.

For the sentiment, I stamped the image first using Gina K Blue Denim ink. Then, immediately stamped over using VersaMark ink and heat embossed using Hero Arts sparkle embossing powder. This provides a clear, but sparkly (hence the name) accent to the sentiment.

To finish, I adhered the accent strip to card base using liquid glue, the sentiment with adhesive foam, and finally the snowflakes with additional liquid glue. A quick trim of overhanging snowflakes completes the card.

The sparkle from the sentiment and shine from the silver mirror card accents this card perfectly.
