Hot Foiling is a great technique that provides an embossed and foiled texture. The Glimmer Hot Foil System makes this technique easy, and with it, I’ve created today’s hot foiled holiday card. Once you have invested in the system, elegant foil embossed cards are quick and simple to create.

Hot Foiling
This card begins with hot foiling, so while the platform is heating up I gather my supplies. For detailed instructions on how to use a Glimmer Hot Foil system, Click Here to check out a previous post about the system.
Once the platform is preheated, layer dies (face up), foil (face down) and cardstock (face down) followed by Thin Shim and Spacer Pad (part of Glimmer system) then start the timer button.
Once the blinking green light goes solid, remove the entire platform and run through an approved die cutting machine.
When running the stack through my die cutting machine, I take things slow and make three or four passes just to get a good impression. Remove the foil and you have a beautifully foiled and embossed texture. To clean up excess foiling, simply run an eraser over the impression and spare bits of foil will come right off.
Repeat the process for the sentiment, then die cut using the dies included.
Card Assembly
For added interest, I trimmed my panel down to 3 1/4” x 4 1/2”, then backed with a mat of silver cardstock. Liquid glue adhered panels to an A2 card base, while adhesive foam tape created a bit of dimension with the sentiment.
With that – this card was complete! This hot foiled holiday card has plenty of interest with the holographic foil, and the clean cut lines keep the design elegant. Sometimes keeping things simple is exactly what is needed!
