Layering stamps are great at creating intricate stamped images. This, in turn, allows for simplicity in card design which still appears elegant and complete. Today, I utilize one stamp set to create two cards that are sophisticated, though simple in design.Â
Altenew’s In My Thoughts stamp set and die are the focal point for today’s cards. I started stamping the base image using Simon Says Stamp Sparrow ink.
As I am utilizing my Misty Stamp Tool, it was easy to create two sets of the stamped image. After carefully layering the next image above, I transferred the stamp to the hinged plate and stamped in Simon Says Stamp Green Leaf ink.
After both card panels were stamped, I lined up the final image, and stamped my first card panel using Simon Says Stamp Rosie Cheeks ink. For the second panel, I switched to Simon Says Stamp Magnolia ink.
A sentiment above the first card panel, using the Sparrow ink again tied the message into the image. Next, I trimmed the card panel to 5 1/8” x 3 7/8” and adhered it to an A2 card base cut from Gina K Kraft cardstock.
For the second card panel, I decided to die cut the image using the corresponding die for the set. Using 3D Foam Squares I adhered the panel to an A2 card panel, also cut from Kraft cardstock. I used Gina K Connect Glue to adhere the small floating flowers and stamped a sentiment using the Sparrow ink.
Inside both cards, I stamped a second sentiment, still using the Sparrow ink.
Both cards are simple in design, which lends well to the sympathy message. The details of the layering in stamped images creates interest, which serves as a great focal point to the card.
Stamping layered images is great to add not only versatility to your supplies, but to your projects as well. Different color combinations and variations in how you layer your group continue to increase the usability of each set.
Do you have any layering stamp sets yet? If so, which are your favorite?
